EV chargers

Electric vehicles are gaining popularity, and the need to keep the battery at full charge has never been more important. Certainly, there are public charging stations for a trip to work or various errands, but the critical need is for a home-based charger.

That is where we come in at Integrity Electricians. We will install your EV charger at your home to keep your electric vehicle charged and ready. This is not a job for a DIYer, and we will get to reason why in a moment.

Your home runs on 120 volts, and you need a 240-volt plug for the charging. When adding a new connection to your electrical service, more hard wiring is required, and you need an electrician to determine if the infrastructure is in place to support a 240-volt plug.

Installing a new outlet or moving one should be the work of a certified professional because, as we know, the Devil is in the details, and local electrical codes and provincial regulations govern the installation.

The Chargers Available

  • Level 1

When you buy an electric vehicle, you receive a 120-volt charger you can plug right into an outlet in your home, the outlets that power electronics. The problem is that your vehicle’s charge is a trickle, and it can take up to 36 hours to get a full charge. We will install one if you don’t have an outlet in your garage.

  • Level 2

A level II charger requires the same plug type for 240 volts as your electric dryer. This is the most common charger on the market. You find them in homes and public charging lots. This charger supplies ample power to recharge your battery when plugged in at a public lot in a few hours. An overnight charge to full power can be obtained at home.

  • Level 3

This charger is an industrial-strength charger, and you don’t see it installed in homes. They populate car lots and commercial parking lots for EVs. This charger will refresh your battery in minutes or charge a completely drained battery in 30-60 minutes.

Why Charge At Home?

We want to introduce you to the benefits of charging your EV at home to maintain your auto independence and reduce your carbon footprint.

  • Convenience for charging because you always have access to a plug at home, no hunting around for a gas station.
  • Time of use billing is how electricity is paid for in Ontario. You can make the most of charging expenditures charging your EV during off-peak hours.
  • If you have solar panels, your EV charger can accept power from the panels – extra electrical work required – and you aren’t paying the utility company for the power as a bonus.
  • Never worry about your vehicle’s range again when you have your own charging station. Just plug in and top your battery up for any trips you need to make.
  • As more people purchase EVs, they will look for homes with a 240-volt charging station, which adds value to your home’s price.
