Upgrading from 100 amp, 200 amp 400 amp
Growing businesses have two things in common. An increase in demand for goods and services – an expanding customer base – and the demand for increased power to keep up with the need for the products they produce.
When you work with us at Integrity Electricians, we can take your old 100 amp service and bring it to meet the demands of your business. Should you need to double your power from 100 amp to 200 amp or quadruple it from 100 amp to 400 amp, we have the expertise and knowledge to get you there.
Upgrading To 200 Amp Service
Your electrical panel is your central power distributor, and it serves to protect your business from any problems that occur from uneven power distribution. As with anything, age equals degradation, so your panel may need to be updated.
At Integrity Electricians, we strive to conduct a thorough assessment of your power needs, including installation and accurately gauging the panel needs and the wiring that creates reliable protective power for your going concern. When we upgrade your panel, we will look at the grounding system to bring it up to the Electrical Safety Code standard.
How The Upgrade Works
First, as a business owner, you must alert your local utility company that you are upgrading your service. Once your local utility approves the upgrade – it takes three to four weeks – you, as the customer, will be expected to assume the cost for cabling from the transformer to the meter.
With your approval in hand, the utility will set a disconnection date two to four weeks in the future. Remember that the power disconnection will last four to eight hours, so plan accordingly.
Authorization/Permits
You are one step from getting your project off the ground, which involves booking an inspection and obtaining a permit. Once the Electrical Safety Authority signs off on the work, power will be reconnected to your facility, and you will be back in business.
Installation
The day has arrived when all your planning is put into practical use. The hydro company will disconnect your power, and we at Integrity Electricians will make all the upgrades. Replacing the panel, the meter, new wiring, and mast are part of the regular upgrades required.
An ESA inspector will review the work – as a pre-authorized electrical contractor – our work doesn’t need an in-person inspection. Once the power is reconnected, we will inspect the plugs, lights and make sure the breakers are labelled correctly.
The last thing is obtaining your inspection certificate to provide to your insurance company, and you are back in business.
Upgrading to 400 AMP Service
As with the upgrade from 100-200 amp service, upgrading from 200 – 400 amp is the same, but the Devil is always in the details. A 400 amp panel is designed for commercial and industrial settings that require a steady stream of robust power to meet its production goals
Introducing new circuits to your business will demand a panel upgrade and new circuit breakers to protect against power surges and shorts in the overall power network.
Why Upgrade To 400 AMP Service And The Benefits
If your business is power-intensive, upgrading your service to reduce the strain and wear and tear on your electrical network is a must. Let’s look at the benefits of your upgrade to 400 amp service.
